Photo Contest Winner Blends Elegance & Simplicity

Introducing our first place photo contest winner! Photographer, Wyndham Photography, captured scenes from this purposefully-designed brasserie, Familie, in the Origin Westminster Hotel in Westminster, Colorado.

About the Project

Familie is the French word for family; and that's exactly what this brasserie nestled in the Rocky Mountains aims to deliver. It's a cozy intersection of French hospitality and casual Colorado lifestyle. Familie is a bit rustic, a bit refined, and all about comfort.

The menu is classic French brasserie with some modern touches. They use fresh local ingredients and prepare them in the French technique.

The decor, like the menu, blends modern alongside European tradition with the result of a casual experience that is a step above the chains.

Unique

The Thrash Group, the design firm on the project, selected tin tile for the ceilings over the bar and private dining area to create a sense of intimacy. With dark ceilings throughout the space, they wanted to keep to the dark color and find a way to elevate these areas of the brasserie, but keep things simple.

Old Bronze finish in Pattern #6 was the perfect selection. The 24” tile features a single square design with a hammered border. It had just enough elegance to set the bar and dining room apart without being stuffy. The bronze color complements the black ceilings in the space but is softer and stands apart.

“The tin ceiling tiles were used to define the space of the bar and private dining room, both creating intimate settings.”

The interiors at Familie are a mix of eclectic, rustic, and modern with a European flair. Most of all, it's comfortable. And that's what Familie, and the French brasserie is really all about.

What Caught Our Eye

The high-design in this space doesn't detract from its cozy factor. We love the spare use of Pattern #6 over a couple of important spaces. It feels special, but not ostentatious. It's a masterful design from top to bottom that we're proud to be a part of.
